IBIZA- Radio 1 Weekend

Since going to the Radio 1 Weekend in Ibiza last year, I have been eagerly awaiting the line-up for this year, without a shadow of a doubt in my mind that I will be booking tickets again as soon as humanly possible. It is needless to say awesome, one of the absolute best weekends I think I have ever had. What better destination for the mother of all parties, chilling on the beach during the day, hopping onto one of the many evening boat parties to catch one of Ibiza’s epic sunsets, and to have a few cheeky warm up drinks. That’s just a standard evening here and one of many fun and sociable scenarios you can get involved in, merely as a pre-cursor to some of the best clubbing you’ll ever experience.

Of course the Radio 1 weekend set the bar even higher which I struggled to believe was possible. Last year it was due to take place in a club called Space, which is a very cool club, but last minute it got switched to the Ushuaia Beach Hotel. I think this was an even better venue, closer to the beach with a larger outdoor capacity. It is quite simply one of the biggest free parties I have ever seen, with massive names playing on a top notch stage and sound system. My highlight was definitely the mighty Calvin Harris, but also 2 Bears and Little Dragon were also particularly awesome in my opinion. To be fair there was nothing that wasn’t top notch. It got started at around 4pm I think, but started really hotting up when the sun had gone down. I’d been on a boat party like I mentioned before to get myself in the mood. I’d say it really kicked off when Annie Mac and Pete Tong took control of the stage at around 7, even though I did hear later that it was Rob Da Bank that started the whole thing off.

So again this year, the weekend will be held on the first weekend of august which is the 6th and 7th. Needless to say I have purchased my tickets already and can’t wait to get back over there. This year they have amongst a whole load of the Radio 1 DJ’s, acts such as Grandmaster Flash, Mark Ronson, Above and Beyond and Japanese Pop stars. It is an awesome line-up and more and more things are getting added every single day. If you are looking to get out to Ibiza for the partying this is the weekend for you, I simply can’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for the mother of all free parties, clubbing outdoors until the sun comes up, mingling with the most up for it crowd you’ll probably ever meet, then book your ticket now, you will not be disappointed. It’s a magical weekend where anything can happen, it is as if you can immerse yourself directly into the heart of global dance music and become part of what makes it beat.

Oscar always stays in Ibiza for the Radio one weekend and uses HouseTrip for his accommodation with his friends.
