According to mythological legends, it is said that at this place Virgin Goddess did penance to marry Lord Shiva. Kanya Kumari is respected as ‘the protector of Indian shores’. Built in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi, this memorial is constructed on a place where the vase of Gandhi’s ashes was kept before immersing in the convergence. The structure of the memorial reflects of an Oriyan temple that was designed in a way that on Gandhi’s birthday (2nd October), the sunrays touch the place where the vase was kept.

Padmanabhapuram Palace
It is an exclusive warehouse of few of the most antique monuments of South India that is 15 km away from Nagercoil. Built with a strategic planning, the palace was the seat of power for the kings of Travancore till 1790. The palace is renowned for its unusual aesthetic beauty, creative designs and everlasting wooden carvings.

Suchindram Temple
Situated at a distance of 13 km from Kanyakumari, this beautiful temple is dedicated to the trinity of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. It features an appealing Gopuram, gratifying pillars and a striking statue of the Hanuman.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial
Dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, this is an important place to visit in Kanyakumari.  This holy monument in Kanyakumari is situated on one of two rocks situated about 500 meters off mainland of Vavathurai. It is said that on this rock, a young monk Sripada Parai meditated for 3 years. The memorial has a meditation room and a statue of Swami Vivekanand. It features a unique style of temple architecture.
