Machu Picchu Adventure
The Machu Picchu archaeological complex is located in the department of Cusco, in the Urubamba province and district of Machu Picchu. It is perched on the eastern slopes of the Vilcanota mountain range, a chain of mountains curtailed by the Apurimac and Urubamba Rivers. Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls. Its primary buildings are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. These are located in what is known by archaeologists as the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. In September 2007, Peru and Yale University reached an agreement regarding the return of artifacts which Hiram Bingham had removed from Machu Picchu in the early twentieth century.
Make Plans For a Machu Picchu Adventure

A Machu Picchu adventure is not the type of vacation they will advertise on TV. There are no giant stuffed animals or roller coaster rides. This is an adventure that will appeal to historians and travelers that enjoy seeing the natural wonders of the world. What specifically is Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is basically the ruins of an ancient civilization once known as the Inca tribe. It is located near Cuzco, Peru. The site was actually lost for several centuries until it was recently discovered in the early 1900s. Researchers who have explored the land claim that it was likely an affluent part of the Inca tribe, possibly compared to a country resort of today. The population was small because the area was secluded from the largest base of Incas.
What can you see in Machu Picchu? There are many standing sites as well as artifacts that visitors can analyze. Some of the most popular features include the stone walls, the lost temples and a strange, out-of-the-way place that historians now believe was an ancient torture chamber. This curiosity is a worldwide landmark and one currently on the endangered World Heritage Sites. This is far beyond just a “simulation” experience that you may have seen in the states. This is a real adventure!
