Orlando in 2009
Orlando I’m not meaning to Orlando Bloom. It is a major city in central Florida. It is also the principal city of Greater Orlando. The Orlando-Kissimmee MSA is Florida’s third-largest metropolitan area, behind Miami and Tampa. Orlando is also home to the University of Central Florida, which is the second largest university in Florida in student enrollment and has the 6th largest enrollment in the nation.
What is New in Orlando in 2009?

If you haven’t been living in a cave for the past decade, you might know of a little British wizard named Harry Potter-not to mention a billionaire J. K. Rowling who is further expanding her literary empire with Universal Orlando’s upcoming Harry Potterland. In the theme park within a theme park, visitors will find themselves entirely immersed with finely tuned details of the seven books that changed the way an entire generation reads. There will be the Forbidden Forest, Hogwarts Castle, Hogsmeade Village, and real-life characters. You can bet you might be able to find a gift shop or two. Harry’s universe is currently being constructed by architects and young readers with plans to open in the fall of 2009.

Walt Disney World is responding to the economical events of 2008 with a great deal in 2009. Dream-filled boys and girls of all ages will be able to enter the park for free on their birthday. Sure, an ID is required, but maybe the kids won’t be so bummed that their birthday is over spring break when Disney World is on the agenda!
Not wanting to be entirely outdone, SeaWorld is opening a new, seven-acre rollercoaster called “Manta.” It will soar 140-foot high, above the pools of orcas that won’t be hard to see as passengers will be “flying” through the air as mantas soar through the water. Think a pseudo-Superman position, only the trip is lined with aesthetically pleasing ocean jewels and mosaics, not to mention that you will fly you inches above the water. The rollercoaster idea is fairly new to SeaWorld, though more ride attractions have been introduced since SeaWorld was bought by Busch Gardens. Strap in during the summer of 2009
Also coming up is a permanent production of the Blue Man Group, a musical variety production that is famous across America for its unbelievable musical rhythm and surprising comedy-all from the blue hands and bright eyes of three men.

Other notable area attractions include SeaWorld and Universal Orlando Resort. The region sees an estimated 52 million tourists a year. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Hotel Orlando comprises a complex of three modern buildings. The largest building is a 15-story A-frame tower that incorporates a huge glassed-in atrium that allows the Walt Disney monorail to pass through. The other two buildings are known as the Garden wings of the hotel and provide a casual but modern ambience. The Disney’s Contemporary Resort is centrally located on Walt Disney’s property near Magic Kingdom and all the other Walt Disney’s Theme parks as well as the Downtown Disney area.
