Roadtrip Travel Hacks: The Do’s and Don’ts

The thing about adventures is that they’re meant to be fun but not at the expense of safety – which is oftentimes overlooked. Some people tend to focus on making the trip more fun and while that isn’t a bad thing, you can’t go wrong with making it safer and easier.

Here are some things you must remember when planning for a ride of a lifetime:

Do Bring Extra Snacks for Everyone

Road trips tend to be long no matter where you try to plan it. You have to consider the bumper to bumper traffic you are bound to experience particularly during the weekends and the holidays. Road works are also a factor in delaying your arrival to your destination of choice.

You have to be ready for the delays in your plans, which mean that you and your companions may grow hungry and weary on your road trip.

Starving yourself might result to a headache which is dangerous especially if you are the designated driver. Be sure to fill your supply of snacks to keep you properly nourished.

Do Plan Your Rest Stops Ahead of Time

If you are planning a particularly long road trip, you may want to mark places where you can take a rest, go to the restroom, refill your gas tank, or even eat. You do not want to overly exhaust yourself along the way for that is a sure way for your trip to go sour from the beginning.

Your GPS device should be able to input these places towards your destination. It would be best to follow through this plan even if you think you are feeling fine at the moment you first passed them.

You do not want to find yourself in the position wherein you suddenly have to go to a restroom but couldn’t find one. Or perhaps you suddenly need to refill your gas tank and could not find any gas stations nearby.

Besides, a road trip should not only be about your destination but also the journey along the way.

Don’t Forget to Check Your Car for Safety

Checking your car for safety is a must before going on a road trip. Even if you just bought it new, you still have to take some precautions.

There are three things you must check to have peace of mind on your way to wherever destination you have in mind.

Firstly, you need to inspect your battery. You do not want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere because your battery run out of charge.

Secondly, check your tires for any bulges or tears. Be sure to also double check your spare tire and bring a toolbox for you to use, just in case you may encounter some issues along the way.

Thirdly, inspect your breaks and be sure that they properly work. You do not want to experience any difficulties with them.

If you really want to be sure about the safety of your car, you should easily schedule a basic maintenance check with your car dealer.

Don’t Overpack

Overpacking can affect how your vehicle performs along the way; you have to pack smart and only bring the items you need while traveling.

Are you planning a road trip with your friends or family after buying a Toyota Fortuner here in the Philipinnes? It’s not really an adventure if you know where you’re going. Always do make sure that fun comes above any factors. Finally, don’t forget to enjoy your trip and be safe, everyone!
