Alicante is the second biggest city in the Province of Valencia. Alicante is very popular with tourists as there are lots of different things for tourists to see. Over 6 million tourists visit the region each and every year! Most of these people will enter the country through the Alicante airport which is located in the capital city of the area.

Attractions when Sightseeing in Alicante
The old center of the city has a wide range of different museums and beautiful historic buildings. There is an awful lot for anyone to do in this area, you can learn about a lot of Spanish history and culture fairly easily. There is so much on offer that it can take you days to see everything, make sure you suggest that you’re going to spend time in the old town so you can see some of these sights.
There is also a museum devoted to the nativity scene, this can be found on San Augustin Street. There are lots of different nativity scenes in this museum which are from many different countries all around the world. Anyone who likes Christmas will enjoy visiting this museum. Even stingy parents will enjoy visiting because it’s free!
A very old cathedral which is very beautiful is the Concathedral of San Nicholas de Bari. This has a very noticeable large blue dome which makes it somewhat of a landmark. You can also see a very large sculpture of Saint Nicholas carved in black marble. The bishop of the province also resides in this cathedral.
Santa Barbara is a castle and one of the largest fortresses dating back to medieval times in all of Europe. The original structure was built in the 9th century by the moors. If you climb the tower then you will be able to benefit from some amazing views of the city. There is also a wide selection of artifacts on display, some of which date back to the bronze age.

Alicante has a number of different ways in which you can spend your night life. The old quarter is a great place to check out if you want to do something fun at night. There is a unique Medieval feeling in this area which makes your night out even more pleasurable. You will find dozens of pubs and bars dotted around in this area.
Enjoy yourself with shopping and beaches
The most popular tourist attractions in Alicante are almost certainly the beaches. The summer in the Costa Blanca is very long and enjoyable, it’s a great place to enjoy the sun. You will find a beautiful promenade close to the beach which is very nice to take a stroll along. There are also a number of cafes which you can pop into for a drink and a light bite to eat.
You can find a number of different shops throughout the area, there are a number of small and large stores depending on what you need. The harbor has a lot of small shops and a large department store. You can also buy local crafts from people along the waterfront.
There is also a very large shopping mall in the centre of Alicante. This is called the panoramis shopping mall and can be found near to the harbor. This is almost identical to American malls, and also has some great views of the harbor.
