Sunny Gran Canaria, which means ‘Great Island of Dogs,’ is the second most populous of the Canary Islands, off Spain. When visiting the north of the island, the must-see places in the inland include Arucas, Firgas, Mova, Valleseco and Teror; and Santa Maria de Guia, Galdar, Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves on the coast. The island is not too big since it only takes an hour by bus or taxi to take you all over the island, but the city of Las Palmas is where most tourists trooped.
Beaches to check out include the Playa Amadores for its beautiful white sand, Playa del Ingles for watersports, Playa las Canteras for scuba diving and Playa Patalavaca for bodyboarding. You will never run out of fun activities to do such as tandem skydiving, sand boarding, seadoo or taking a ride in beautiful waters south of the island, surfing, bungy jumping, camel riding, sunbathing, or visit Aqualand, a water park in Maspalomas.
There will never be a dull moment in your holiday as it has the beaches to occupy your days and a buzzing nightlife at dusk. Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles offer the best nightlife in the island with lots of shops, bars, and restaurants to go to, as well as meet people of various nationalities.
Spice up your holidays Gran Canaria by attending carnavals the whole month of February since every city has one, and other festivals and fiestas all throughout the year making it one great party island.
